Tamperine

Tim News arts, birmingham, charity, creative, music, sound it out, tamperine

Last Wednesday (16th May), I was honoured to be present at the launch of Sound It Out’s amazing Tamperine campaign.

Tamperine is another project for Birmingham to be rightly proud and one that I think we should all support.

Sound It Out do amazing work inspiring people and communities through the power of music and I hope the campaign not only raises thousands of pounds for the charity but helps to increase profile and give it the platform that it truly deserves.

A number of A-List stars including Ricky Gervais, Dame Judi Dench, Rolf Harris and Stephen Fry have contributed to this brilliant fundraising project.
The idea was simple – send stars a series of tambourines and invite them to send back their “doodles” on the musical instrument. The tambourines would then be put on ebay raising money for Sound it Out.

The fact that such prestigious names from the worlds of arts, film, TV and sport is testament not only to how the campaign has captured the celebrities’ imaginations, but what a great cause this is for.

The launch of the Tamperine project was also the start of an exhibition taking place in the Ec Artspace on the ground floor of the Mailbox, which is on until the 26th May 2012.
