Excellent. Welcome one and all to this week’s #AtTheFlix. Let’s don our yellow suits and explore the cinematic goodness!

Minions (U)

The big screen treatment of Minions is as inevitable as it is welcome.

The film is one part backstory, or rather history, where we witness the great Minions evolving through time. That is until we meet Kevin, Scott and Bob embarking on a journey which ultimately leads them to 1960s New York City and then onto modern London to save the Minion world! 

Is it funny, is it irritating? Well, critical attention has been more split than I thought it would be! Seriously, you can’t help but get fun from these little yellow dudes. In the absence of Despicable Me 3 (out in 2017), I for one will be venturing to see it.

Knock, Knock (18)

Knock, Knock! Who’s there? It’s Keanu, and he becomes prey to a couple of femme fatales who end up causing him a lot of grief. Being Eli Roth, expect terror, horror, shocks and turn up the intensity settings a lot.

This is a tale of male vanity gone very wrong indeed

Slow West (15)

Showing at the Electric, the Everyman and no doubt a few more places, John Maclean’s positively received western stars Michael Fassbender with Kodi Smit-McPhee as a young man who journeys across the American frontier in search of the woman he loves. He meets Silas (Fassbender) who quickly uncoils that Jay’s affection comes at a cost. Both travel in attempt to stay one step ahead of a bloodthirsty posse and colourful bounty hunter.

The Third Man: 2015 Re-issue (PG)

Showing at the Everyman, don’t miss this HD restoration of Carol Reed’s iconic 1949 The Third Man, one of the most awarded and loved British films of all time, starring Orson Welles.

Listen Up Philip (15)     

The opportunity to catch up with Alex Ross Perry’s anger fuelled story starring Philip as author awaiting the publication of his second novel. He is in deteriorating and his indifferent to promoting the novel. When Philip’s idol Ike Zimmerman offers his isolated summer home as a refuge, he finally gets the peace and quiet to focus on his favourite subject: himself.
