News: My new gig as Regional Co-Ordinator for CodeClub.
Hello one and for all,
I bring news of a major new gig I’m starting.
I’m joining Code Club at their regional lead for the West Midlands. Code Club is a nationwide network of free volunteer-led after-school coding clubs for children aged 9-11.
I will be the face of Code Club regionally, responsible for growing the number of clubs, raising awareness of the programme and forging partnerships with local businesses.
I’ll be your first port of contact for things Code Club in the region.
There is such fervour and momentum for this as proven by numerous coding initiatives in the region, for example the fab work that Young Rewired State continues to do amongst others.
For Code Club, the work is especially timely. Coding is now a recognised part of the primary school curriculum and, as Nesta’s Young Digital Makers report confirms, young people’s desire to learn to code and express their creativity has never been more important – it’s only going to get more so!
It is Code Club’s core belief that every child should have the chance to learn to code no matter what their financial situation – this is the reason that Code Club is free.
I support their mission, so much so I’d like to put a Code Club into every primary school in the region.
This is a logical extension to all the work that I have been doing recently in the education and business arenas around creativity and technology, in particular working with children and young people.
I look forward to engaging with you.
I cannot wait to get going. Watch this space for more info.
Cheers,
Tim.
