DESCRIPTION:Come and find out more about Code Club and meet our volunteers in Birmingham on Tuesday 2nd June.\nAs part of National Volunteers Week we are celebrating the work of our volunteers in Birmingham and the West Midlands region with a meetup\, and inviting all who who interested in running a Code Club to come along and find out more.\n\nPrimary schools all over Birmingham and West Midlands region more widely are seeking volunteers to run after-school Code Clubs for their students and help their teachers deliver the new Computing curriculum.\n\nWhat is Code Club?\nCode Club is a nationwide network of volunteer-led coding clubs for children aged 9-11\nWe create projects for our volunteers to teach to after school coding clubs or at non school venues such as libraries. The projects we make teach children how to program by showing them how to make computer games\, animations and websites. Our volunteers go to their local club for an hour a week and teach one project a week. Many of the projects use Scratch.\n\nAt the event:\n\nfind out what’s involved in starting a Code Club\nget an overview of the training offered to volunteers\nspeak to existing volunteers and schools that currently run Code Clubs\nreceive help to match volunteers with schools looking to establish a code club\nanswer any questions that you may have about starting and running a club.\n\nCalling current volunteers >> lightning talks\nWe’re inviting current volunteers to give a brief five minute talk to share their experiences of running a Code Club with prospective and existing voluntees – we’d love that!\n\nWe look forward to meeting you!\n\nThis event is hosted by Tim Wilson\, the new Code Club Co-ordinator for the West Midlands region @codeclubwmids\n\nFAQs\n\nWhat are my transport/parking options getting to the event?\nBrewsmiths is located next to the Livery Street entrance to Snow Hill station. DESCRIPTION:#MysteryTour is a programme run by my client Work in Progress where young people are invited to work as consultants\, visit cultural and heritage venues and make heritage more exciting and accessible. \nShrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery is set in a remarkable group of historic buildings including the town’s old Music Hall. They currently have a temporary exhibition called ‘Secret Eygpt’ with 150 objects including statuary\, coffins\, ceramics\, jewellery and animal and human mummies. \nBased at Shrewsbury Castle\, the Shropshire Regimental Museum Trust includes pictures\, uniforms\, medals\, silverware\, weapons and other artefacts from the 18th Century to the present day. \nAdmission is FREE\, travel expenses can be reimbursed but please bring a packed lunch and drinks. \nTo book your place\, click here. \n
